Accessibility
We build accessibility into how this site was made rather than adding it afterwards. This page records what we targeted, what we tested, and what we know is still incomplete.
Standard we target
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and Level AAA for text contrast where that is achievable without compromising the design.
Body text is set at a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 against its background in both light and dark themes. No text falls below 4.5:1. Interface borders and icons meet at least 3:1.
Conformance claim
Partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the content do not yet fully conform. Those parts are listed below.
What we have done
- Every page has one main heading, a single main landmark, and a skip link as the first item you reach with the keyboard.
- All functionality works with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible and is never removed.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- The site respects your operating system’s dark mode preference and your reduced motion preference.
- Interactive targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Text can be resized to 200% without loss of content or function.
- Automated accessibility tests run against every page, including the error page and both colour themes, as part of the build.
Known limitations
- Some page copy is still placeholder text pending final content. Placeholder text is marked visibly on the page.
- Illustration and imagery are not yet in place, so some alternative text is not yet final.
- The site has been tested with automated tooling and by keyboard. It has not yet been tested with a full range of assistive technologies or by disabled users directly. That testing is planned.
